Footballers and their wages

My first discussion point, why do footballers get paid so much?

It is absolutely pointless, they do hardly anything, just kick around a ball all day and they get paid millions.

It is so not fair!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are so many individuals doing more worth while jobs, yet they get paid a fraction of what footballers get!

It is not even eqaul across all sports Rugby players for example, get paid a lot less.

I am not against football, I enjoy it, I just think that it is crazy the amount of money that footballers get.

    Hi, I totally agree with the fact that footballers are overpaid. Most come from working class backgrounds and when interviewed can not string a sentance together but get paid millions a year. The main reason this appears to happen is that sky pour millions into the top division and it is spread about the 20 top clubs. The top half dozen, to remain on top pay stupid wages and transfer fees in order to obtain the so called best players. Eventually the money will run out because so many clubs have over stretched themselves and are in debt. This will mean that the wages will have to drop as the stupid fans who pay £60 to £80 for a replica shirt which costs £2 to make will not be able to sustain the players wages themselves. In addition with less work around for normal people they will not be able to afford sky and the money sky pay to the clubs will drop. This could eventually mean that the new breed of players will not join clubs on inflated wages and will have to do what some of the top players of today would do if they couldn't play football and that is steal cars etc. How is that for a debate Courtney. P

    it is an industry that generates a lot of money so they are paid equally

    I guess equality in the industry is a good thing, however it is not always equal. The amount of money and revenue that a player brings to the club is a lot more than what they get paid. Thus even though all players might get paid equally, they themselves are being exploited by the industry that they work for. This is kind of ironic I find.

    However this was not the point that I was trying to make, what I was trying to say was that I think it is wrong that amount of money that this industry produces. When I feel that this money could be better spent elsewhere. This is just my opinion however, I do not think I am right. Maybe there is no right and wrong, all I think is that society should have the ability to spend money in areas that I find to be more meaningful for our existence. Our desire and need for entertainment and the next best thing, I believe is going to be humans down fall in the future.

Film Review of Brokeback Mountain

Brokeback Mountain (2005) is a story of two men (Jack and Ennis) who both work over one summer in 1963 and take care of a large herd of sheep on Brokeback Mountain for a ranch owner. Their work consists of taking the large herd up into the mountains for the summer, protecting them from coyotes, herding them through the valley.
