Why is it so hard for people to recycle?

Recycling is the easiest thing that an individual can do in this world in order to make a little change that causes a big difference.
Is it too much to ask?
Don't people understand that if it is don't correctly that you are helping to preserve the world one plastic bottle at a time!?
It is not just about Global Warming, it is about preserving the worlds resources and also not filling the world full of garbage, literally!! In fact some countries are running out of space to put their garbage, so now they are sending it to other countries, so that they have to deal with it. That is just plain wrong, we can't take care of our own problems, so we push them on someone else, that is unbelievable.
I know it is a lifestyle choice and that it may require a bit more effort, but it the right infrastructure is put into place then it is as easy as can be.
Even if you can't recycle at least believing in the idea of it is good. Yet some people don't even think that. They can't understand why.
Can't people see that we only have one world? Once we use this one it is gone, there is nothing left.
People think that because they are just one individual, they can't make much of a difference. But that is just it if one person starts then eventually everyone is doing it!
Recycling is the one thing that everyone can do to make a difference, it doesn't require a university degree, just common sense!
Another interesting thing that I sometimes wonder about is where does all our garbage that we throw away go anyway? Shown by the above link, clearly garbage can travel further than we first thought.
But how many people do think about garbage in their day to day lives? We just throw it out and then we are done with it, it is out of our mind and out of our conscience. Yet I think it is something that should be in our conscience, we sometimes can't control how companies packages things or how our governments do decide to deal with the issue, but it is our job as a consumer and citizen to change the ideas of companies who we buy from and change our governments legislations. We can do this by making conscious decisions about where we buy items and what we buy and also demanding things from our governments that we believe in.
I don't think governments put enough emphasis on green initiatives in their countries, they are only concerned about the here and now. Decisions that will effect public opinion in the present as to whether they stay in office or not, yet it they were to think a little further ahead and start putting plans into action now, then our  world might have a brighter future.

  1. i completely agree. i am just so against such negativity that some people have that they just don't care, can't be bothered or feel like what they are doing won't help a thing
